Assumptions that we want to test:
- 1st Assumption : parents don't trust us because they don't like to leave their children with strangers
Leap of faith tested here : Lack of trust
Objective: Prove customers that they can trust us, thanks to our many features.
To test this assumption we want to do a real experience.
- 2nd assumption: Application is the best way to make this service work
Leap of faith: do our customers have the behaviour to use application ?
Objective: show that the application is the easiest and fastest way
1rst assumption scenario:
Script 1 to test the trust issue:
To test this assumption, we want to do a real experience. For this, we could actually try to drive the kids and test the principle of our service.
We have prepared a scenario which shows how we could test this assumption.
- Before meeting the person who will try our service:
We contact by message a father living in Barcelona. We know him thanks to Dani, which is making babysitting at his place.
On messenger :
Us: Good morning sir, we are currently developing an application in the case of our studies. This application is actually offering a service, which is a uber made only for kid. It's called Nannyber. Throughout our application, you could make an appointment to have a Nannyber for your child. In this case, your child could go to his extracurricular activities by his own, thanks to the Nannyber, who would drive him/her there directly. Thanks to our service you will be able to work without stress, or even rest without feeling guilty, rather than bringing your kids at every places they need to go. Would you be interested in testing the service ?
Him : Good morning, yes, I am interested about your potential application. I think it is very innovative and I would be pleased to help you. What should I do in this case ?
Us : Thank you very much for your answer. We are very pleased to know you would like to help us. In order to test the service, we would like to meet you whenever you can, with one of your children. You will try NannyBer and we will bring you to the place you want, for example the place where your kids go to dance, or even to school. We will be the one driving the car, and you will be with your kid in the car. Like that you will be able to observe every step of the application, and give us some advices, and above all your opinion on the entire process.
Her: Great, I am free on the 9th of January morning if you want.
Us: It is good for us, let us meet at ..... You will find Dani and Audrey there.
Her: We will be there.
(In face-to-face)
Us: Hello, how are you ?
Her : Hello, fine thank you. We can't wait to test this new application
Us: So the first thing you have to do is taking your phone, going on our application "Nannyber" and make a reservation for a car. Before you would have obviously registered your information, concerning your tastes but especially the ones of your kids! Then, you can choose a taxi driver, the one you prefer if you have preferences, or randomly. Then, the application tells you the price you need to pay, how much time you have to wait your Nannyber and how much time you will take to go to the desired place. Then the NannyBer is coming, and here we are!
(Dani is driving)
Us: So normally here your son would be alone with Dani, with something to eat if you had chosen this option before for example. However, every parents can try the service with their children the first time for free. It is one of the service that we offer.
Her: Great! And how do I know if the driver is qualified ?
Us: All our drivers have their licence for at least 5 years, so they all have at least 5 years of experience with cars.
Her: Good to know! It's less scary! I think it's not making me that afraid because its activities are short distance and the drivers have experiences
Us: Exactly, and your son would have the best comfort he could ever dreamt of! And as you can see here, there is a camera. This camera is directly connected to the application so if for example you are at work and your son is in the nannyber, you can open the application and you will be able to see him in the nannyber thanks to this camera. As a result, you can always have an eye on him.
Her: Oh I didn't know that ! This is really great !
(We arrive at destination)
Her: (to her son) What did you think about it? Do you think the driver is good ?
Her son : Yes the driver was really nice !
Her: I think he appreciated the experience, so do I!
Us: Would you trust us and leave your boy alone in the Nannyber ?
Her: Well I was not comfortable with the idea at the beginning but I like the fact that I can always have a look on him thanks to the camera. This is really reassuring since I will always know where he is. Moreover, I like having all those information about the driver on the application. It feels like I know him a little bit so it is reassuring. The fact that you are in a partnership with schools and sport clubs is also a good point. It means you are serious.

Us: Thank you for your feedback and comments. Now, you have the possibility to leave a grade and a comment about the driver on the application. This will allow the following parents who will order a nannyber to see if this driver is good or not. Your kid also has the possibility to make his own comments.
Her: Okay, this si good ! We will
Us: Thank you for your feedback and we take this into account. Goodbye ! See you soon
Her : I hope your app will be launched soon
- 2nd assumption scenario: the application is the easiest and fastest way to make this service work
To test this assumption, we need to know if our customers have the appropriate behaviour to use an application. To do this, we have to create a scenario where we see if our customers prefer to use a website on the computer or an application on the smartphone.
1rst scenario: The mother is at work in a meeting. Her daughter is at school and she needs to go to her dance class. Her mother has to order her a nannyber but she is in a meeting so she needs to do it as fast as possible. What will she use ? Her computer or her smartphone ?
=> Our application on smartphone will allow her to choose her driver really fast. Indeed, her preferences and her daughter preferences are already registered on their profile. As a result, the application will only propose her drivers that meet her expectations. Then, thanks to the Tinder design she will be able to "swipe" and choose the driver that she prefers. Then, she will see in how much time the nannyber is arriving and will receive a notification when her daughter is in the car. Finally, at any time, if she wants to check that her daughter is doing well, she can go on the application and see her in the car thanks to the camera which is inside the car.
2nd scenario: we can show them a prototype of the application with the different features and the design (mix of uber and tinder) and see how they do with it.
If they seem familiar with it, it means that the application was a good idea.
To do this, we will draw the different pages of our application, show them, and ask them what they think about it.
Other type of scenario:
Collegue: What are you going to do with your daughter, who need to go to dance class?
Maria: Im going to order a nannyber for her. Its going to pick her up from my house and take her to her Dance lesson and when we finish teh meeting Im going to pick her up.
Collegue: Whats nannyber?
Maria: Its an app only for kids that would pick my daughter at my place and take her where ever I put the drop of place.
Collegue: That sounds amazying, but does it works?
Maria: Yes, Its fantastic. I dont need to stop doing my stuff to go and pick her up.
Collegue: Can I get a nannyber, via computer or how can I make it work?
Maria: No, Its only by smartphone. That way you can be tracking your daughter all the way thrue the journey. Becuase of the GPS Its super important for me to know the location fo the car and my daughter at all times and a computer dont allows you that easy.
Collegue: Im not good with phones can you explain me?
Maria: Yes, for sure. Its really easy to use. First you need to download the app. Then its really straight foward. You need to create and account for you and your kid you program your account in your kids phone. The first trip you can actually ride it with your kid so you can check out the service. Ive tried it and its fantastic. But right now check its out. I just put the exact location of my daughter and where I want her to be drop off.
Collegue: How would you know if they actually picked up your kid? and drop her off?
Maria: I always tell my daughter to send me a text but anyways the app always sends me a notification letting me know.
Really great start! One thing is to be careful when you introduce the project to your potential customer - if you tell them you want to test for trust, then you may create a bias. Just tell them about the service and have them test it. After the test, you can do a post-test survey and ask them to rate the service on a scale of 0 to 5 for "trustworthiness" and ask them follow-up questions ("what would we need to do to get a 5?")
